Unique Ideas for Honoring Your Loved Ones

Everyone has had a loved one that is no longer with them. I have put together several unique ideas to help you find that "special something" for that "special someone" in your life.

It was very important for my husband and I to to incorporate those precious family members on our Wedding Day! We honored my husband's grandmother by wrapping rosary beads around my wedding bouquet. It was sentimental for multiple reasons, he always wore them around his neck until he met me and then since we lived 5 hours apart. Several months into our dating life, he put them around my neck and told me "My grandmother was my guardian angel watching over me while he was away serving in the military."

Here are several Ideas for You:

1. Wear something that reminds you of that person.
This is one of the most private ways to honor a lost loved one—no one will even know unless you tell them. This is a great way to keep that person close to your heart without drawing attention to their absence. For my wedding, I wore my grandma’s earrings and used one of her brooches in my bouquet. You can also incorporate a favorite photo, a handkerchief, or another little memento into your bouquet

2. Have an Honory Chair.
Set a pair of shoes, coat, tie, or have a bouquet made to place in their chair as a memory of your special loved one not being present.

3. Party Favors in their honor.
Perhaps their favorite treat or your pass time with them was making oatmeal cookies with your grandmother. Make oatmeal cookies or have them made. Doll them up and package them nicely, adding a cute saying In memory of your loved one!

 

4.Make a tribute to them in your ceremony.

5. Light a candle
This is one of the most common ways to honor your loved one.

 

6. Have a photo table.
Have a dedicated photo table where you put all of your loved ones pictures in pretty picture frames . You can also type up on saying and frame it or write on a chalkboard, depending on the style of your wedding, "Your love will always be with us."

7. Play their favorite song or incorporate a poem in your wedding.

8. Save your wedding bouquet and have it placed on their headstone.

9. If your loved one was cremated, you may even consider having the ashes be a part of the ceremony and scattering a piece of them in an area.

10. Add a trinket or memento to your bouquet.

 

 

Whatever you do, don't make this a sad time, this is your wedding day, a day of great happiness! By all means your special someone wouldn't want to have you upset on one of the most important days in your life. Make this a time to reflect on all of the wonderful memories you and your loved one had.
